Someone has posted this snippet from the log file:

Disk 6 is now the selected disk.

The disk you specified is not MBR formatted.
Please select an empty MBR disk to convert.

The disk should be converted to MBR by the clean command, but it seems that's not always the case.
Fortunately, we can call the convert mbr command as many times as we want without diskpart complaining that "the specified disk is not GPT formatted" like it does when converting to GPT.
